Possible Side Effects of Electrolysis
Some of the common side effects of the electrolysis treatment include some mild swelling and reddishness of the skin. This is quite normal and can be treated with some creams on the advice of your doctor. There might also be some ingrown hairs as well.
On the more severe side, there could be pain and some burning sensation as well. This is caused not due to the electrolysis treatment as such but due to the fact that the practitioner is not skilled enough. If the pain is very high, then you need to take treatment for that and also need to change your electrologist before your next sitting.
There have also been reports of blisters and skin damage occurring after the electrolysis treatment and this is again due to improper treatment procedure. Some people also attempt this treatment at home or go to an untrained practitioner for the low cost proposed by him and this generally leads to such problems which need to be treated immediately.
There may also be some discoloration of the skin and it may be due to the fact that your skin is highly sensitive. The discoloration may either mean darkening of the skin or lightening of the skin in patches.
Some amount of swelling on the face and acne can also appear as a result of this procedure and this can be treated as well and they should vanish over time.
As always, it is better to consult with your electrologist about the possible side effects that might occur as a result of the electrolysis procedure. He would be able to address your specific questions after understanding your health history, current and past medication, the area being treated, the type of electrolysis being undergone etc. Once you have a thorough discussion with him on all aspects of this treatment, then it is time for you to choose to take this procedure or not.
